My editorial approach is collaborative and grounded in compassion, intellectual honesty, rigor, and integrity.
The goal of editing is clear and concise writing. I focus on helping writers articulate well-developed ideas while ensuring the internal structure, grammar, and style support their voice and message. Editing isn't just correcting. It's about refining your work so that readers understand what you mean in a way that's clear, thoughtful, and true to your voice.
I offer four packages featuring three core editing services, tailored to the different stages of the writing process:
The "Quick Look Over" ✏️ for a final polish and shine
The "Head-Scratcher" 🤷🏽♀️ for when you're stuck and need a hand
The "Deep Dive" 🔍 for a comprehensive editorial experience
In the spirit of integrity and transparency, each package includes a section called "Keeping It Real" ✌️, where I outline what falls outside of my scope. Aligned expectations make for a better process, more trust in collaboration, and clear writing.

Editorial feedback consists of margin notes, a summary note, organic deadlines, revision cycles, and reflective conversations.
Margin Notes
Margin notes are where I respond directly to the text and offer suggestions for clarity, structure, and writing mechanics. It is also where I react in real time as a reader. Writers need to know how a text lands for a reader, emotionally and intellectually.
Summary Report
In a separate document, you will receive feedback through the framework of "a rose, a thorn, and a bud." 🌹 Writers need to know what works, what may need improvement, and ideas to consider in future drafts.
Organic Deadlines
We'll work at a realistic and flexible pace, because life happens.
If you have a firm deadline, we'll build a timeline that works towards it without unnecessary stress.
Revision Cycles
Depending on the scope of your project, we may collaborate over several drafts, refining the perpetual penultimate edit until you say it's ready to go!
Reflective Conversations
For deeper editorial work, we'll have thoughtful, reflective conversations that explore ideas, process feedback, and chat about all the big and small things.

Writing centers are AMAZING resources and should be your first stop on your writing and editing journey.
That said, sometimes you may be unable to make an appointment. You may also prefer to work with one person throughout a paper or on many separate projects. In either case, I hope to provide a helpful resource!
AI, like ChatGPT and Grammarly, are beneficial tools for quick and immediate feedback. In all fairness, I use them. (For example, when I can remember everything but the word I am trying to remember. Or to quickly check punctuation.)
But, and I cannot emphasize this enough, they are just one set of tools in a writer's toolbox.
For all writers, especially students, wrestling with the craft of writing is an integral part of becoming a better writer and, most importantly, a critical thinker.
Additionally, feedback from others can elucidate ideas and perspectives we may not have otherwise considered.
With my humanities and social science background, I offer interdisciplinary insight and tailored editorial feedback to support your needs and maintain your unique voice.
