My editorial approach, first and foremost, is collaborative and compassionate. It meets you where you are.
I believe one of the primary goals of editing is clear and concise writing. So, my job is to help writers articulate well-developed ideas while ensuring the internal structure, grammar, and style support their voice and message.

Editorial feedback consists of margin notes, a summary note, organic deadlines, revision cycles, and reflective conversations.
Margin Notes
Margin notes are where I respond directly to the text and offer suggestions for clarity, structure, and writing mechanics. It is also where I react in real time as a reader. Writers need to know how a text lands for a reader emotionally and intellectually.
Summary Report
In a separate document, you will receive feedback through the framework of "a rose, a thorn, and a bud." 🌹 Writers need to know what works, what may need improvement, and ideas to consider in future drafts.
Organic Deadlines
We'll work at a realistic and flexible pace, because life happens.
If you have a firm deadline, we'll build a timeline that works towards it without unnecessary stress.
Revision Cycles
Depending on the scope of your project, we may collaborate over several drafts, refining the perpetual penultimate edit until you say it's ready to go!
Reflective Conversations
For deeper editorial work, we'll have thoughtful, reflective conversations that explore ideas, process feedback, and chat about all the big and small things.

That is an excellent question.
Writing Center
If you have access to your school’s writing center, use it. It is an amazing resource and should be your first stop on your editing journey. That said, sometimes you may be unable to make an appointment. You may also prefer to work with one person throughout a paper or on many separate projects. In either case, I hope to provide a helpful resource!
AI
The topic of AI is very loaded in the current zeitgeist and for good reasons (like AI scraping and environmental impact, to name a few).AI can be an invaluable tool and resource, especially if you struggle with executive functioning. However, as the saying goes, a tool is only as good as its user. I strongly urge judiciousness and caution with AI.
I would be remiss to not say that the wrestling with the craft of writing is an integral part of becoming a better writer and, most importantly, a critical thinker. Grappling with editing feedback can open one’s eyes to ideas and perspectives we may not have otherwise considered.
Furthermore, people are going to read your writing, therefore people need to be part of the editing process.
